How to Scout Locations for
Senior Portrait Photography Sessions
My philosophy on a background for a Senior portrait Session is natural lighting, colorful backdrops and texture. I love to backlight my subjects as well to get a halo of light in their hair. The best time of the day for photographing Senior Portrait Sessions is two hours before sunset as you then have that magic hour lighting. Locations should be fun and reflect the look that you are going for whether it's a glamorous fashion senior portrait or a classic look with gorgeous lighting. I work together to find a location to photograph your senior portraits and usually we go to 2 or 3 locations during your senior portrait session.
I photograph most of my Senior Portrait sessions in San Francisco, Oakland, Petaluma and San Rafael but open to other locations without a travel fee such as Mill Valley, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Healdsberg, Santa Rosa, Napa, Sonoma, Tiburon Belvedere and Sausalito.
